How can trade agreements promote employment, enhance the link between economic and social benefits and achieve sustainable development? How can the interconnectedness between economic, social and environmental objectives be protected and promoted? Collaborating with the European Commission, the International Labor Organization, and various European governments, we sought to answer these questions at “Working For All?”
At the Inaugural Conference on India’s Economy, top academic researchers, officials from the IMF, World bank, OECD, and the UN, and current and former high level policy makers in the U.S. and Indian governments discussed topics like access to education, employment, gender equality, urbanization, and overall financial development in India.
In May of 2014, IIEP affiliates travelled to Antigua, Guatemala to help host the U.S.-CAFTA-DR Intensive Trade Seminar in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the passing of CAFTA: the Central American Free Trade Agreement. After years of hosting the seminar in D.C., IIEP and the Washington International Trade Association sought to help Central American and Guatemalan firms and governments better understand how to engage with U.S. trade policy agents.
